5 Tips for a Healthy and Active Spring

The cold weather and lack of sunlight can take a toll on our bodies. With Spring right around the corner, it’s the perfect time to shed the winter blues and spring clean your health habits. Here are 5 tips to nourish and support your body this spring.

Spring Health Tips

1. Start an Exercise Routine

During the spring, the weather is warmer and the days are longer, which is the perfect combination for a consistent exercise routine. According to the American Heart Association, individuals should get at least 150 minutes of moderate exercise per week and 75 minutes of vigorous exercise per week. If you’re not a fan of going to the gym, we recommend getting in the garden to burn some extra calories.

2. Treat Your Allergies

With the warm, spring breeze comes high amounts of pollen. Airborne pollen triggers runny noses, itchy eyes, sneezing, and hives. Fortunately, there are ways to beat Spring allergies. First, limit your time outdoors, especially during windy days where the pollen count is high. Second, take allergy medicine to control your symptoms. Finally, allergy proof your house by replacing the air conditioning filter and cleaning your floors with a vacuum cleaner that has a HEPA filter.

3. Protect Your Skin

The skin is the largest organ of the body, so it’s important to protect it from the harsh Utah environment. We recommend using a moisturizer with SPF 15 or higher everyday. Plus, consider throwing out old beauty products. Using expired beauty products can cause serious skin problems, including rashes, irritation, infection, and more.

4. Drink More Water

Utah is notorious for its dry heat, which can lead to dehydration if you’re not consuming enough water. Before heading outside, be sure to have plenty of water on-hand in order to stay hydrated. If you’re not a fan of plain water, consider adding fruit for flavor.

5. Schedule a Health Check-Up
